The Tin

This was my first exhibition. I presented my prints that were part of a project based around food. I abstracted the idea of ‘food’ from the brief and realised during the process of making and researching that the most important aspect of food is the memories associated with food, the people behind the food. Our family and our culture around food. This project is called ‘The Tin’ after a family recipe tin which was given to my mum before she went to unviersity filled with strange and wonderful recipes given to my mum from my grandpa. These are specifically photopolymer prints. The process for a photopolymer print involves printing your image on transparent paper, exposing it to a plate, then an acid bath, followed by hours of drying and loads, of trial and error with the right amount of ink and scrubbing processes. The final result is these beautiful prints, with interesting texture and the paper beneath provides this lovely warm colour.

Below you can see the tin and some of the process involved in making these prints.
